The Fractal Dimension of a Pixel (2022)

A magnification of entangled, hot pixels

The Installation “The Fractal Dimension of a Pixel” entangles the broken pixels of a monitor. Two video microscopes film, so called, „hot“ pixels and displays them back again on the same screen. Because both cameras films and displays at the same time, a change of one pixel will simultaneous effect the other, too.
The magnification revealse the real nature of a pixel, too. It’s not a perfect square. It is a rough shaped speck that even has a Fractal Dimension on its edges.

The microscopes are Raspberry Pi cameras and the video mixing is done by the artist’s developed VGA video mixer.

The The Fractal Dimension of a Pixel is currently shown at the exhibition
Kybersonor - Der Klang des Steuerns
at the Theater Galerie in Ingoldstadt.
